British. Studied Philosophy through PhD level, with a focus on Kant's theories and aesthetics. Practiced art throughout my 20's, but for various reasons stopped practicing art for around a decade. Began painting and drawing again in the autumn of 2023, with a clearer idea and vision of what I want to achieve. Self taught artist, influenced by the golden age of British art (18th C through to early 19th C), Early-Mid Modernism and British Neo-Romanticism. Most works displayed on this site are recent works but there are some of my older works amongst them.
Interested in art as a kind of esoterica, that speaks symbolically in various ways. This is the domain of the spiritual or transcendental, and this contrasts with the profane or temporal. All profane art is dead and speaks as such. The basic premise is not new and has been explored by the likes of Maurice Denis and Kandinsky. I will write more here at some point, but for now i will let my work speak for itself in terms of what i am trying to achieve.
